Scott Bailey, President & General Manger of Magic 1560 has worked in Nashville Radio for over 35 years, with his biggest stint at Nashville’s Heritage R & B radio station WVOL-AM (The Mighty 147) in the mid 80’s, then on to WQQK-FM (92Q), as one of the biggest jocks on 92Q in the late 80’s and early 90’s. Scott brought with him the knowledge of radio programming he was taught from former 92Q Program Director, Jay Dubard, and put together a format for WMRO. As a matter of fact, it was Jay Dubard’s idea to name WMRO, Magic 1560, which is a slogan that has stuck with this station up to this day.
In the winter of 1994, with the help of Hoyt Carter, General Manager at WNAH Radio in Nashville, Scott Bailey and his family signed on Magic 1560, WMRO in Gallatin, TN on February 19, 1994.
Today, WMRO, Magic 1560 is still owned by Classic Broadcasting of Sumner County, and our music mix here at Magic 1560 features a blend of Adult Contemporary Hit Music from the 80’s, 90’s through today. The station plays hip, fun, current music featuring a broad spectrum of sounds. This special mix of adult contemporary music lets adults feel up-to-date without having to endure the bubblegum pop songs or rap/hip-hop music that is a tune-out to more mature listeners. WMRO was a Hot AC formatted station from April 1st, 2006 until September 12th, 2014.
WMRO changed its music format from Hot AC to a Mainstream AC Format on September 12th, 2014. The reason for the change was because of the Rap/Hip-Hop Versions of Hit Songs was being played. Along with the format change, Pop Oldies Music from the 70s through the 2000s were added to the playlist with the Current Pop Hits of Today, and keeping the station’s slogan “Today’s Best Hits”.
Magic 1560 is an affiliate with the Westwood One Radio Networks.
